Executive Director | The ArQuives: Canada’s LGBTQ2+ Archives

2016 - present

I lead the ArQuives in the acquisition and preservation of Canadian LGBTQ2+ heritage. I coordinate with the Board of Directors and volunteers in committee-based work, including fundraising, exhibitions, community outreach, communications, finance, and collections management and development. I lead and facilitate strategic and succession planning for the organization. I support the treasurer in the development of the annual budget and oversee processing, approval, and control of all financial transactions. I oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization including communications, programs and activities, and administration. I act as a spokesperson and representative for the organization in the community, within in the heritage and culture sector, and with the media. I lead the development of partnerships within the LGBTQ2+ community and with other cultural organizations in Canada and around the world. I supervise and train staff, interns, and volunteers in all sectors of the organization. I promote the LGBTQ2+ history of Canada by creating public and educational programming, creating exhibitions, and participating in and organizing public and academic conference presentations.


Provincial Archival Advisor | Council of Archives New Brunswick

2015 - 2016

I led the provincial network for archival cooperation in New Brunswick. I acted as a representative of the provincial archival community at the national level. I promoted the archival preservation and conservation of New Brunswick historical documentary sources. I made presentations to governmental and other agencies to promote the preservation of archival collections in the province. I encouraged the establishment of archives by record-creating bodies and prevailed upon these bodies to open the historical records to public research. I assessed and reported on the needs of the provincial archival community to provincial, federal, private funding, and policymaking agencies. I established and promoted adequate standards, procedures, and practices among archival repositories in the province.

I created policies, procedures, and standards for the library and archive. I physically and intellectually arranged archival collections. I conducted community outreach and created a digitization program. I performed project planning and management, and supervised students and staff. I created records management policies and acted as consultant to the Cree Nation Government and other Eeyou Istchee entities. I also implemented and populated an archival database system.


Digital Archivist | Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada

2011-2013

I created policies, procedures, standards, and associated paperwork for the collection of written, audio, and video statements by the TRC. I acquired, arranged, described, and processed digital records. I reviewed and arranged church and government records. I handled hiring, training, and management of staff in house and in the field. I was responsible for material collection and artistic submissions to the TRC, as well as for the Gifts of Reconciliation to the TRC. I performed database creation, implementation and training, and field work and project management at TRC events.
